Die Musikhochschule Lübeck ruft auf, Artikel für einen Sammelband über den Komponisten Nikolai Medtner zu verfassen.
»We invite you to submit articles for a collective volume discussing the music and artistic thought of Russian composer Nikolai Karlovich Medtner (1880–1951), to be published in 2020 by Olms Verlag, Hildesheim, Germany, edited by Wendelin Bitzan and Christoph Flamm, and funded by the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts.
The editors welcome contributions from various musical and scholarly backgrounds, aiming to present aninterdisciplinary and resourceful panorama of Medtner’s music and artistic philosophy that covers multiple aspects of the composer’s work and life. Possible topics are:
– musicological and analytical studies, focusing on Medtner’s compositions
– Medtner’s work and impact as a pianist and teacher
– Medtner’s cultural environment in Moscow, Berlin, Paris, or London
Potential contributors are asked to send their abstracts (max. 2,000 characters including spaces), along with a short academic bio (up to 1,000 characters), by September 30, 2019. You will be notified on the acceptance of your contribution shortly after. Full contributions should range between 25,000 and 40,000 characters (including spaces) and need to be submitted by January 31, 2020.
